YEY for Delay!

Texas conservative Representative Tom Delay has finally decided to resign his position in Congress, after serving in Congress for 11 years. Delay has decided to resign in either late May or early June, saying after
"...many weeks of personal, prayerful thinking and analysis, I have come to the conclusion that it is time to close this public service chapter of my life,"

He would rather step down than sit in his position and take all the attacks on his political position and possible criminal charges. Delay also said,
"The conservative movement is leaderless and we need a strong leader to pull the movement together, and I want to go out there and try to do that."
Canidates for president in 2008, watch out -- the die hard conservatives of this country LIKE Tom Delay.

More on Delay's criminal charges?
Delay was indicted on conspiracy and money-laundering charges. In his mug shot, Delay smiled like a kid who just got a popsicl and his little sister didnt. Interestingly enough, his mug shot looks better than many of his offical political photographs...Yey for Delay!!!But anyway. The odd part of this is Delay's reasoning for smiling -- it somewhat reminds me of the Voice of God in the Senate (Rick Santorum....from PA, sadly). Delay said of his "wrapped in Christ" smile,
"I said a little prayer before I actually did the fingerprint thing, and the picture. And my prayer was basically: 'Let people see Christ through me. And let me smile.' Now, when they took the shot, from my side, I thought it was the fakiest smile I'd ever given. But through the camera, it was glowing. I mean, it had the right impact."

Was the right impact of the picture for people to see humility, forgiveness and generosity of Christ? No, sadly...
Delay continued, saying that by "right impact," was that the
"Poor old left couldn't use [the picture] at all. They had all kind of things planned, they'd spent a lot of money. It made me feel kind of good that all those plans went down the toilet."

Here's a copy of his arrest warrent...

Oddly enough, a Conservative used the toilet-and-Christ line this time...It seems that whenever the two are used in back to back sentences, its the social conservatives of America who mount a protest. Hmm..

Even with Delay gone, President Bush said that,
"Our party [Republican] will continue to succeed, because we are the party of ideas."

No comment. Ideas, such as the Iraqi war? WMD's in Iraq, even though President Bush said he didn't care if there weren't any WMD's, we had to go in anyway? No Child Left Behind? Tax cuts? Darfur? The "Libby" Leaks? All our other actions that seem to be depleting our foreign friends and any chances of retaining what status we have amoung other countries?
Sorry, I couldn't hold back.

But those are other posts.

Dateline hits again...

hey, did you hear that one about the Deputy Press Secretary of Homeland Security?

he was arrested for soliciting sex to a 14 year old girl on the internet, graphically explaining what he wanted her to do, and what he wanted to do....even though the 14 year old was an undercover internet sex police decoy.

more here
yeah, a sick joke.

so it wasnt Dateline's To Catch a Predator, but it was for real. on TV. my roommate and i were switching back and forth between John Stewart, MTVu, and CNN, and randomly (thankfully, i guess...) caught the news as they showed Brian J. Doyle being escorted away in a police car.
